Antique Belgian "Medal of St. Bernadette" on Faceted Multi-stone Necklace
This antique Belgian “Medal of St. Bernadette” has been fashioned into a necklace by vintage jewelry designers, Intellectual Property. As a young girl, Saint Bernadette was visited by the Virgin Mary at the Cave of Lourdes in France. She was chosen by God to receive visions that would inspire hope and faith. This elaborately designed, diamond-shaped medal depicts this exact scene; the child kneels before a glowing Virgin Mary in the rocky grotto. Each corner of the medal is engraved with roses. On the reverse, the medal is engraved “Souvenir de Notre-Dame de Lourdes.” The charm is presented on a strand of faceted multicolored stones with a sterling silver toggle.
Searching the braderies and antique shops throughout Europe, the founders of Intellectual Property, Mary and Hallie, specialize in finding unique antique medals and transforming them into one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. Their designs highlight the legacy and integrity of the original pieces, artfully bringing the past into the present.
