Lab & Ring-Necked Wingshooter Limited Edition Fountain Pen
Eagle Pen Company designed this limited edition Lab & Ring-Necked fountain pen as an homage to the storied tradition of game hunting. Part of a limited edition of 25 unique pens in the Wingshooter suite, each individual pen is an original 1-of-1 work celebrating game birds. The Lab & Ring-Necked pen features a cap with a miniature Lab and Ring-Necked Pheasant painting by Lynn Peterson and a complementary body of Ring-Necked Pheasant, Silver Pheasant, and Snowflake Quail feathers.
Lynn Peterson got her start in the art world painting classic hunting dogs and waterfowl. For this pen, Peterson depicts a handsome black Labrador Retriever with a Ring-Necked Pheasant held in its jowls. Originally imported to America from Asia, the Ring Necked Pheasant is one of only a handful of game species to flourish on the American continent. Of the forty pheasant species introduced, the Ring Necked Pheasant is the most popular and best known, especially the male, due to its highly ornate and brightly colored plumage. The detailed cap painting is further adorned with 24k gold paint and micas for iridescence. Lynn, a world renowned miniaturist, works for upwards of eight hours on each painting, individually signing each numbered masterpiece.
Based on her original sketches and color palette, Eagle Pen Company crafted a pen body with a mix of Ring-Necked pheasant, Silver Pheasant, and Snowflake Quail feathers. The feathers were all hand selected for color and pattern, laid by hand, and then sealed under a glassy resin coating.
