The National Flag: A History details the history of our national flag. Johnson begins by tracing the development of our flag design from the St. George’s Cross and Union Jack, continuing with a discussion of early colonial and battle flags of the Revolution. He then details the changes of our flag over time, and works hard to detangle myth and story from historical facts.
Willis Fletcher Johnson (1857-1931) was an author and lecturer, with a twenty year tenure as the foreign and diplomatic editorial writer for The New York Tribune.
